It’s easy to get lost in a sea of attention-grabbing headlines and news updates. Modern media is designed to confuse and alarm, and oftentimes lacks perspective and longview.

That said, sometimes contemporary events have dimension and depth to them that is worth dwelling on; whether it’s the rise of parasocial relationships, cryptocurrency, or AI. New technnology can leave us reeling, but I think sometimes the key to understanding its impact on the human animal lies in history.

I hope to be able to provide context and historically-informed longview, help you understand the weird world we live in a bit better, and ideally make you laugh from time to time along the way.
